ED conducts raids in Jharkhand
The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has conducted raids in Ranchi against former Chief Minister of Jharkhand, Hemant Soren, and his associates, seizing land worth 8.86 crore. Apart from Soren, the ED had filed charge sheets against Bhanu Pratap Prasad, Raj Kumar Pahan, Hilarius Kachhap, and Binod Singh on March 30 in the PMEL Court.
Birsa Munda Central Jail
Hemant Soren is currently in judicial custody at the Birsa Munda Central Jail in connection with money laundering investigations. Several FIRs were filed by the Jharkhand Police against government officials and others in alleged land scam cases.
Accused names Prasad as main culprit
The main accused in the case is former official of the Jharkhand Revenue Department and custodian of government records, Prasad. He is accused of misusing his official position by aiding illegal land grabs and manipulations related to seizures. The ED alleges that Prasad was part of a syndicate involved in fraudulent land acquisitions.
Arrest after seven-hour interrogation
After a seven-hour interrogation in a money laundering case, Hemant Soren was arrested by the ED in Jharkhand. Prior to this, Soren had to resign from the CM post after meeting the Governor while in ED custody. His arrest was a challenge to the ED’s conducted by the Enforcement Directorate.
प्रवर्तन निदेशालय (ईडी) ने झारखंड के पूर्व मुख्यमंत्री हेमंत सोरेन और उनके सहयोगियों की रांची में जमीन कुर्क की है, जिसकी कीमत 8.86 करोड़ है। ईडी ने सोरेन के अलावा, भानु प्रताप प्रसाद, राज कुमार पाहन, हिलारियास कच्छप और बिनोद सिंह के खिलाफ 30 मार्च को पीएमएलए अदालत के समक्ष आरोप पत्र दायर किया था। सोरेन फिलहाल न्यायिक हिरासत में हैं और वर्तमान में होटवार के बिरसा मुंडा केंद्रीय जेल में बंद हैं। ईडी ने अपने आरोप पत्र में कहा कि प्रसाद एक ऐसे सिंडिकेट का सदस्य था, जो फर्जी तरीकों से जमीन हासिल करने में शामिल था।
