Keke Pathak’s Tenure Highlights

During his eight-month tenure as the Principal Secretary of the Education Department, Keke Pathak showed his determination by making significant decisions that led to conflicts with the government and the Governor’s House. He implemented measures that were not well received by teachers, such as removing the names of consistently absent students from schools and taking action against missing teachers. He also directed district officials to regularly inspect schools in their respective areas.

Clashes with Chandrashekhar

Keke Pathak clashed with Professor Chandrashekhar, the Education Minister during the Mahagathbandhan government. His decisions led to conflicts with the minister, resulting in the closure of his office. The tensions escalated, leading to protests against Keke Pathak. The controversies between the two officials also caused embarrassment to the Mahagathbandhan government.

Confrontations with Raj Bhavan

Keke Pathak faced confrontations not only with the Education Department but also with Raj Bhavan during his tenure. His decision to advertise for the appointment of university vice-chancellors created a clash with the Governor. The Education Department’s move to withdraw the advertisement following the intervention of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar further added to the controversy surrounding his decisions.
