IGI Airport Police recently arrested two individuals, Savinder Pal Singh and Gaganpreet Singh, who had secured jobs as seamans in a Mexican company. The news of their job in Mexico had spread throughout their village, and their families were overjoyed. With preparations underway to send Savinder and Gaganpreet to Mexico, it seemed that they would soon be free from their life’s troubles.

On September 17, 2021, the day arrived for them to depart for Mexico. The entire village bid them farewell at the Delhi Airport. After the emotional goodbyes, they headed back home from the airport. Meanwhile, Savinder and Gaganpreet boarded their designated flight, which would take them from Doha to Istanbul and finally to Mexico.

During the immigration inspection in Istanbul, authorities discovered that Savinder and Gaganpreet’s seamans’ books were fake. Consequently, they were deported to Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport. Upon their arrival, the IGI Airport Police arrested them under sections 420/468/471 of the Indian Penal Code and the Passport Act.

Investigations revealed that Savinder Pal Singh was originally from Jhugian Peer Baksh village in the Tarn Taran district of Punjab, while Gaganpreet Singh hailed from the Tungpai area in Amritsar. They had both found jobs in the United States through an agent named Dharmender Singh. It was Dharmender Singh who provided them with the fake seamans’ books, for which he had received 40 lakh rupees. Following the disclosure of the accused individuals, the police began searching for Dharmender Singh.
