Passion for Farming
In Bihar, farming has always been a source of inspiration for people, leading them to continue farming even after pursuing professional jobs. Cash crops in farming have a greater impact on people, which is why the trend of cultivating crops that yield higher profits with less time and cost has been increasing in recent years. In Gopalganj, there is a farmer who practices medicine as well as farming. Due to his dedication to farming, he has even set up a small clinic in his fields to treat patients when needed.
From Ayurveda to Farming
Dr. Ali Akbar Rizvi, a skilled doctor, decided to return to his ancestral village in Devariya, Gopalganj district, after obtaining a degree in Ayurvedic medicine and working in Nagaland. He started vegetable farming using modern techniques on 7 acres of land, focusing on organic farming to achieve better prices for his produce. With an annual income of ten lakh rupees from farming, Dr. Ali is not only an expert in agriculture but also runs a small clinic alongside his farming activities, providing Ayurvedic treatments to people in the area.
Success in Organic Farming
Dr. Ali’s organic farming practices have led to hassle-free sales of his vegetables, with local traders readily purchasing his produce. By cultivating a variety of vegetables on his land, he earns up to ten lakh rupees annually. Dr. Ali encourages young people to take up farming, emphasizing the profitability and satisfaction that can be derived from this traditional occupation.
