Boosting Income for Litchi Farmers

In an effort to help litchi farmers increase their income during the off-season, a litchi research center in Muzaffarpur is providing training for fish farming. Farmers are being given ponds where they can rear fish alongside their litchi trees. This initiative aims to boost the livelihood of farmers and increase their profits.

Training and Benefits

Farmers at the litchi research center are being taught the techniques of fish farming to help them diversify their income sources. With the litchi season being seasonal, this training in fish farming provides an alternative source of income for farmers during the off-season. The training has been successful in helping farmers earn up to 60-70% profit.

Innovative Practices

Scientists in Muzaffarpur have developed a cost-effective method of producing fish feed from litchi seeds. This innovative approach has been pioneered by scientists at the Matsyaki Mahavidyalaya in Muzaffarpur, Bihar. By utilizing litchi waste to produce fish feed, farmers are able to reduce costs and enhance their fish farming practices, leading to increased profitability.
