Big Blow to RJD as Former Rajya Sabha MP Ashfaq Karim Resigns

Former Rajya Sabha MP Ashfaq Karim has dealt a major blow to the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) by resigning from the party. Karim, who was unhappy about not receiving a Lok Sabha ticket, submitted his resignation to RJD’s national president Lalu Prasad Yadav. In his resignation letter, Karim expressed his dissatisfaction and also leveled serious allegations against Lalu Yadav and the RJD.

Allegations Against Lalu Yadav

In his letter, Karim accused Lalu Yadav of trying to dominate Muslims and not providing them with a fair share of representation. He mentioned that Muslims were not being given adequate participation according to their population, making it impossible for him to continue working with the RJD. Karim urged Lalu Yadav to focus on social justice rather than playing divisive politics based on community.

Political Fallout

After the end of his Rajya Sabha term, Karim was promised a Lok Sabha ticket from Katihar seat by the party, but the seat went to the Congress in the seat-sharing agreement within the Mahagathbandhan. This decision led to Karim questioning the RJD’s policies, and ultimately resigning from the party. This move comes after Karim had previously criticized Lalu Yadav for fielding candidates against his wishes in other constituencies as well.
