Extreme Heat Wave in Bihar

The current weather in Sachidanand/Patna, Bihar has taken a severe turn with scorching heat and heat waves making it difficult to live. The temperature in 31 out of 38 districts has crossed 40°C, with 14 districts recording a heat wave on April 29. A red alert has been issued for today, and according to scientists at the Patna Meteorological Center, the heat wave is expected to continue until May 2, posing risks of physical stress and even death.

Red Alert Till May 2

India Meteorological Department scientist Anand Shankar has warned that most districts in southern Bihar are likely to experience intense heat waves, while a few places in northern Bihar may face hot weather conditions until May 2. It is advised to stay indoors between 12:00 pm and 3:00 pm, stay hydrated, wear loose light-colored clothes, and cover your body when going out in the sun to prevent any heat-related illnesses.

Red Alert Issued in Several Districts

On April 30, extreme heat waves are expected in several districts of Bihar, including East Champaran, Gopalganj, Navada, Sheikhpura, Khagaria, and Bhagalpur. Orange alerts have been issued in Sivan, Darbhanga, Supaul, Purnia, Araria, Katihar, Rohtas, Bhojpur, Kaimur, Aurangabad, Begusarai, Lakhisarai, Munger, Jamui, and Banka. Yellow alerts have been issued for Buxar, Bhojpur, Shivhar, Madhepura, and Saharsa districts. The maximum temperature is expected to range between 42°C to 44°C in Bihar during this heatwave.
