Heat Wave Grips Northern India

The scorching heatwaves in northern India have disrupted daily life, with temperatures soaring in states like West Bengal, Bihar, Odisha, Jharkhand, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, and Haryana. Cities in these states have recorded temperatures above 40 degrees Celsius, including Delhi NCR. The rising temperatures are expected to continue, leading to decreased activity in markets and streets due to the intense heat.

Extreme Conditions in Other States

Bhubaneswar, the capital of Odisha, has witnessed temperatures crossing 43 degrees Celsius, causing distress for the residents. Similarly, Jamshedpur in Jharkhand set a record high of nearly 43 degrees Celsius. The heatwave has forced people to stay indoors by mid-morning, as cities like Prayagraj and Midnapore in West Bengal also experience temperatures above 42 degrees Celsius. Patna, the capital of Bihar, has been facing temperatures above 40 degrees Celsius for several days.

IMD Forecast and Warnings

The India Meteorological Department has issued warnings for regions like Western Bengal, Interior Karnataka, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, and Coastal Odisha, predicting the possibility of severe heatwaves. States like Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand, Konkan, and Goa are also expected to experience extreme heat in the coming days, urging residents to take necessary precautions to stay safe.
