IIT Madras has announced the introduction of a new admission process for its undergraduate programs called “Sports Excellence Admission” (SEA) starting from the academic year 2024-2025. Under this program, IIT Madras will provide two additional seats in each of its undergraduate programs for Indian citizens. One of these seats will be specifically reserved for female students. However, the admission process through SEA will not be conducted through the Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) portal but through a separate portal operated by IIT Madras.
To be eligible for admission through this program, candidates must qualify in JEE Advanced and secure a position in the Common Rank List (CRL) or category-wise rank list. They must also have won at least one medal in any national or international level sports. Based on their performance, a separate “Sports Rank List” (SRL) will be prepared, and seat allocation will be done accordingly.
Director V. Kamakoti has stated that IIT Madras will also launch a sports complex along with advanced facilities. The initiative to start the IIT Madras Sports Kota is aimed at identifying and rewarding talented students who excel in sports. This program encourages eligible students to continue pursuing higher education while maintaining excellence in their respective sports.
आईआईटी में अंडर ग्रेजुएट प्रोग्रामों में एडमिशन पाने के लिए अब खेल-खेल में एडमिशन बाहरी छात्रों के लिए भी उपलब्ध होगा। इसके लिए आईआईटी मद्रास ने अपने ग्रेजुएट प्रोग्रामों में स्पोर्ट्स कोटा की घोषणा की है। इसके तहत आईआईटी मद्रास भारतीय नागरिकों के लिए दो अतिरिक्त सीटें प्रदान करेगा, जिसमें से एक महिला छात्रों के लिए होगी। छात्र को जेईई एडवांस्ड उत्तीर्ण करने के बाद स्पोर्ट्स कोटे के तहत आईआईटी मद्रास के पोर्टल के माध्यम से एडमिशन मिलेगा। इस प्रक्रिया के माध्यम से उत्कृष्ट प्रदर्शन करने वाले छात्रों को पुरस्कृत किया जायेगा।
