Importance of Panchang in Sanatan Dharma
The Panchang holds a special significance in Sanatan Dharma as it serves as the basis for religious and auspicious activities. The calculation of auspicious dates for events like marriage is based on the dates mentioned in the Panchang. Despite the calculation of auspicious wedding dates after July 12th, the publication has been delayed due to the lack of consensus from the Pandit Mahasabha.
Pandit Mahasabha in Darbhanga
Every year, a Pandit Mahasabha is organized in Darbhanga to bring together Panchang experts from different parts of Bihar, other states in India, and even from foreign countries. The main aim of this gathering is to ensure that all experts agree on the dates mentioned in the Panchang to avoid any discrepancies or differences in calculations.
Consensus among Panchang experts
During the Pandit Mahasabha, all Panchang experts compare and cross-check their calculations to ensure accuracy and consistency. Only after reaching a unanimous decision, the Panchang is published with the auspicious wedding dates and other important information. The gathering is expected to include experts from Nepal, Bihar, Bengal, and Assam this year to finalize the publication of the Panchang.
