Success Story of Harivansh Mahto
Harivansh Mahto, a farmer from Maheshpur village in Bihar’s Begusarai district, made significant changes in farming on the advice of scientists. This not only reduced the cost and effort but also increased production. He switched from farming guava on two acres to banana farming after receiving training from agricultural centers and district horticulture department. Despite facing adverse weather conditions, he managed to earn a profit of one lakh rupees in just two acres of land.
Challenges and Triumphs
Although Harivansh Mahto faced delays and discrepancies in receiving the promised subsidies from the horticulture department, he did not give up on banana farming. He highlights that banana cultivation is a year-long process, ensuring a steady income. Despite facing losses due to bad weather in the past, he managed to earn a profit of one lakh rupees, emphasizing the potential of banana farming in the region.
