Jharkhand Candidate List for Lok Sabha Elections 2024
The dates for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections in Jharkhand have been announced. The elections will be held in seven phases, with Jharkhand having four phases for voting this time. Jharkhand has a total of 14 Lok Sabha seats, with BJP winning 11 seats in the previous elections. Congress, Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM), and All Jharkhand Students Union (AJSU) had won one seat each. BJP has announced candidates for 13 seats for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, while Congress and JMM have announced candidates for six and four seats respectively.
Important Dates for Elections in Jharkhand
For the Lok Sabha elections 2024, voting in Jharkhand will take place in the fourth, fifth, sixth, and seventh phases. Voting will begin on May 13th for four seats in the fourth phase, followed by three seats on May 20th in the fifth phase. The sixth phase will see voting for four seats on May 25th, and the remaining three seats will have voting on June 1st in the seventh phase. Approximately 2.55 crore voters in Jharkhand will exercise their voting rights this time, with 22.33 lakh first-time voters. The election results will be announced on June 4th.
Mamata Bhuiyan Named as RJD Candidate from Palamu
Mamata Bhuiyan has been named as the RJD candidate for the Palamu Lok Sabha seat, which is located near the Bihar border. The RJD has announced candidates for Palamu and Chatra in alliance with the Indian National Congress (INC). However, there is still no consensus on the candidate for the Chatra seat. Mamata, a resident of Singra in Palamu, recently joined RJD after leaving BJP a month ago.
BJP Releases First List of Candidates for Jharkhand
On March 2nd, BJP released its first list of candidates for the Lok Sabha elections, fielding 195 candidates in total. In Jharkhand, BJP announced candidates for 11 out of 14 seats in the first list. As part of the NDA alliance, the Giridih seat will go to the AJSU party. BJP has made efforts to appease the OBC community in Jharkhand in the first list. In constituencies like Hazaribagh, Jamshedpur, Kodarma, and Ranchi, where there are general seats, BJP has fielded OBC candidates.
