During the preparations for Holi in the Simdega district, a wild boar attacked, resulting in the death of one person. Nine others were also injured in this attack. This incident took place in the Pithara Panchayat, 140 km away from the capital city of Ranchi, on Tuesday morning. After this attack, Section 144 of the CRPC has been imposed in the Panchayat.
Prohibition Order Imposed in the Panchayat
Forest Range Officer S.S. Choudhary explained, “A wild boar attacked the crowd. One person died in this attack, while six others were injured initially. The number of injured later increased to nine.” Simdega’s Sub-Divisional Officer (SDO) Sumant Tirkey stated that a prohibition order has been imposed in the Panchayat as a precautionary measure. He further mentioned that the villagers can try to find or drive away the wild boar, which could lead to loss of life or property.
Compensation for the deceased’s family and the injured
Under the order, gatherings of five or more people have been prohibited. Additionally, the use of loudspeakers by villagers has been discouraged. A ban has also been imposed on carrying weapons on the roads. A team from the Forest Department was deployed on Wednesday morning to search for the wild boar and take it back to the jungle. Forest Range Officer mentioned that there are concerns that the villagers may have injured the wild boar, which then became aggressive and attacked them. Four of the injured have been sent to the hospital in Ranchi, while one has been discharged. The deceased’s family will receive ten thousand rupees as compensation, and the injured will be given five thousand rupees each.
