Development of Modi-3 Mango Variety

A farmer in Bhagalpur has successfully developed the Modi-3 mango variety, following the Modi-1 and Modi-2 breeds. The Modi-3 mangoes have many qualities similar to the previous breeds, making them attractive to farmers and mango enthusiasts. Ashok Choudhary, a well-known farmer in Bihar, is the mastermind behind the development of this new mango variety.

Unique Qualities of Modi-3 Mango

Choudhary revealed that the Modi-3 mango is a cross-variety of the American Irwin and Desi mango breeds. It took him two years to develop the plant, which will have a medium-sized tree. The mangoes can be stored for up to 15 days without refrigeration, making transportation and storage very convenient. The Modi-3 mangoes are expected to be in high demand once they are ready for widespread cultivation.

Visual Appeal and Taste

Apart from being delicious, the Modi-3 mangoes are visually appealing with a vibrant red color. Each piece weighs around 300 grams and is rich in juice content. Choudhary mentioned that the Modi-1 and Modi-2 mango varieties are already popular in different parts of the country. The Modi-3 mango tree has shown high fruiting capacity during trials, indicating its potential for widespread cultivation.
