Supreme Court’s Significant Decision

The Supreme Court has announced a significant decision stating that parents with more than two children will not be eligible for government jobs. However, this decision is not applicable throughout India, but only in one specific state.

Supreme Court’s Rejection of Appeal

The bench of Justice Suryakant, Justice Deepankar Datta and Justice KV Vishwanath rejected the appeal filed by former soldier Ram Lal Jat. He retired from service in 2017. With the dismissal of this appeal, the Supreme Court has approved that candidates with more than two children seeking government jobs will be at a disadvantage.

Policy for Panchayat Elections

It should be noted that almost 21 years ago, the Supreme Court made this policy mandatory for Panchayat elections. This means that even candidates contesting Panchayat elections must adhere to the two-child policy. Now, this policy is also mandatory for government jobs.

New Rules Implemented by Rajasthan Government

This policy has been implemented in Rajasthan, where it is not just applicable to candidates contesting Panchayat elections but also to those seeking government jobs. The Supreme Court has approved this rule by the Rajasthan government, and it has been officially endorsed.
