Rakesh Tiwari emphasizes the importance of acquiring long-term lease of Moin-ul-Haq Stadium
The President of Bihar Cricket Association (BCA), Rakesh Tiwari, believes that obtaining the rights to Moin-ul-Haq Stadium on a long-term lease from the state government could prove to be a crucial turning point for Bihar cricket. BCA has successfully taken over the long-term lease of Moin-ul-Haq Stadium from the Bihar government. The stadium currently serves as the home ground for the Bihar cricket team and has been a venue for nine international matches since its establishment in 1969.
Challenges faced by Bihar cricket post state division, as highlighted by Rakesh Tiwari
Tiwari mentioned the challenges that Bihar cricket faced after the state’s division in 2000. He stated, ‘It is like a dream come true for us. After the state’s division in 2000, the main foundation was taken over by Jharkhand Cricket Association. We only had Moin-ul-Haq Stadium, which was also under the control of the Bihar government.’ He further added, ‘It was governed by the Bihar state, we never had ownership rights, and we were completely dependent on the permission of the Bihar government to utilize it.’
Moin-ul-Haq Stadium’s transformation into a cricket facility under BCA’s leadership
Tiwari revealed, ‘Initially, Moin-ul-Haq Stadium was built for football. However, when we started our operations in 2010, it took us 8 years and a decision was made to allocate Moin-ul-Haq Stadium for the management of Bihar cricket.’ Despite the challenges, BCA President and his team remain steadfast in their goals. With plans for improvements in infrastructure and facilities, the stadium is poised to offer world-class amenities. Acquiring Moin-ul-Haq Stadium on a long-term lease from the Bihar government could be a decisive turning point for Bihar cricket.
