The Spanish woman who was a victim of a gang rape in Dumka, Jharkhand has now released a video detailing the horrifying incident she went through. In the hour-long video, the couple mentioned that some things were true and some were false, wanting to clarify what actually happened.
The Incident
It is noteworthy that the 28-year-old Spanish woman was allegedly gang-raped in the Khurmahat area of the Hansdiha police station around 300 kilometers away from Ranchi on March 2. At the time of the incident, she was spending the night in a tent with her husband. The couple has now returned to Spain after traveling on a bike through about 67 countries and have started a journey again to end the memories related to the horrific incident.
Claims Made in the Video
In the video, the couple claimed, “We decided to record everything because we did not know what was going to happen. If the police were going to take us seriously, if they were going to send us home, we did not know.”
What Happened in India…
The woman said, “I think everyone in the world will tell me not to go to India. But life is much more difficult than that. Whatever happened to me in India could have happened anywhere. Not long ago, the same thing happened with a couple in Belize, Central America.”
She advised women to step out of their homes, travel, and do so without fear. She also mentioned to stay in places where help can be easily called for and where there are phone signals.
However, she stated that they will continue their bike journeys. Meanwhile, the Ministry of External Affairs in India had mentioned that an investigation into the incident is ongoing and several people have been arrested.
