Investigation by the police: In Samastipur, a dispute over a 15-dhur plot of land led to a nephew beating his elderly uncle on the road. During the incident, he also assaulted his cousin, causing injuries that are currently being treated at a private hospital. The deceased has been identified as Mahendra Ray, son of the late Banto Ray from Jawaharpur village in the Ujiyarpur police station area. Based on the statement of the deceased’s son, Ranjit Kumar, seven people, including Sujit Kumar Ray, have been named in the case.
Land obtained through intoxication: According to the deceased’s cousin, Sundeshwar Ray, Sujit Kumar Ray had drugged Mahendra Ray last year in April and obtained the ownership of the 15-dhur plot. Four months later, when the family found out about this, they filed a complaint with the police. Several village meetings were also held regarding this incident, but Sujit Kumar refused to acknowledge any wrongdoing.
Incident occurred two days ago with accomplices: Sundeshwar Ray stated that two days ago, Sujit Ray, along with his accomplices, forcefully took Mahendra Ray and his son, Sujit Kumar, out of their house and beat them on the road, causing serious injuries. A crowd of villagers gathered during the incident. The injured Mahendra Ray was being treated by a local village doctor. However, he passed away during treatment on Monday evening. The family informed the Ujiyarpur police about the incident, and the police arrived at the scene and sent the body for postmortem.
Primary investigation based on the statement of the deceased’s son: Mukesh Kumar, the Ujiyarpur police station in-charge, stated that upon receiving information about the incident, a police officer was sent to the scene. The incident occurred due to a land dispute. Based on the statement of the deceased’s son, Ranjit Ray, seven people, including Sujit Kumar Ray, have been named in the case, and the police are conducting raids to arrest them. The body of the deceased has been sent for postmortem at the district hospital.
