Preventing Fire Incidents in West Champaran

In the months of Chaitra and Vaishakh, the hot dry winds blowing towards the west work to turn people’s homes into ashes on a large scale. Especially in rural areas, even a small spark from cooking on mud stoves in thatched huts can turn into a devastating fire, destroying entire villages. Therefore, it is important to be aware of measures that can not only prevent homes from turning into ashes but also save lives.

Fire Safety Measures and Contact Information

Officials in the district have been conducting mock drills and awareness programs to deal with the incidents of fire caused by strong winds. In case of a fire emergency in rural areas, it is important to contact emergency services like dialing 101 or 112 for assistance. The district has deployed 10 small vehicles and 5 large vehicles equipped with water capacity to tackle fire incidents effectively.

Tips to Avoid Fire Incidents

To reduce incidents of fire, officials have shared some important tips. People in rural areas should prepare meals before 8 am and after 7 pm to avoid the peak temperature and strong winds. While cooking, keep a bucket of water and sand nearby to quickly douse any flames. Additionally, it is recommended to apply a layer of mud and cow dung around thatched huts to prevent any fire from spreading. By following these guidelines and being prepared, communities can minimize the risk of fire incidents in West Champaran.
