Opposition Alliance in Jharkhand
An agreement has been reached among the constituent parties of the opposition alliance in Jharkhand regarding the division of seats. According to sources, Congress may contest on seven seats and JMM on five seats out of the state’s 14 Lok Sabha seats. Talks are also underway in Bihar, with RJD MP Manoj Jha claiming that discussions are fruitful and results will be out soon. Meanwhile, in Maharashtra, Prakash Ambedkar’s Vanchit Bahujan Aghadi has created a stir by demanding the Kodarma seat for CPI (ML) and giving the Chatra seat to RJD.
Situation in Jharkhand and Bihar
It is reported that Jharkhand Mukti Morcha will make a decision on the Dumka Lok Sabha seat in the next one or two days, as Sita Soren, wife of Shibu Soren, has joined BJP from there. Discussions are ongoing about securing this seat, with speculations that Hemant Soren’s wife, Kalpana Soren, or party founder Shibu Soren may be fielded on the Dumka seat by Jharkhand Mukti Morcha. In Bihar, a parliamentary board meeting was held at Rabri Devi’s residence regarding the state’s 40 Lok Sabha seats, where Lalu Yadav has been authorized to finalize candidates for all party seats.
Seat Allocation in Bihar
Amid ongoing alliance meetings in Delhi, seat distribution is being finalized. RJD is likely to contest the most seats, with 25 to 28 seats, while Congress may contest on 8 to 9 seats. BSP may get two seats, and one seat may go to BSP’s alliance. In the previous elections, BJP had won 12 out of the state’s 14 seats, leaving only one seat for Congress. However, with many shifts in alliances and candidates, Congress’s foothold in the state seems weakened.
