Violence erupts in Ranikhet following murder of abducted woman
After the murder of a woman abducted from the Rangra village in the Navgachiya police district, the entire area turned into a battleground. The enraged locals caused chaos and even pelted stones at the police. The villagers were so incensed that they set fire to five vehicles, including a police jeep, and also set fire to the homes of two suspects. This resulted in the loss of goods worth almost lakhs in the houses. The husband of the woman has given a statement to the police, leading to the primary registration of the case at the Rangra OP. Meanwhile, the main suspects, Kare Lal Thakur and Sonu Thakur, have been arrested by the police.
Multiple injuries found on the body of the deceased woman
The body of the deceased woman showed signs of multiple wounds in various parts. There were black marks of injury on her face, scratches on her fingers, and signs of blood coming out of her nose and ears. There were also marks of wounds under her waist. It is suspected that the woman was sexually assaulted before being murdered. The relatives claim that the woman fought bravely against the assailants, resulting in injuries all over her body. However, the police state that a clear Short can only be reached after the post-mortem report is received.
Police personnel from several stations arrive at the scene
Upon receiving information, several police officers, including the Navgachiya SP, Anumandal officials, and OP in-charges, arrived at the spot. The locals allege that the police fired more than a dozen shots in the air to quell the violence. However, senior officials deny the firing allegations. The investigation into the entire incident is being conducted by senior police officials. A separate case will be registered for setting vehicles on fire.
Suspect arrested, police conducting camp
Initially, the negligence of the SHO is being highlighted. No action was taken on the day the incident was reported, and the information was not verified. Chaos ensued when the police arrived after finding the body, creating a law and order situation. The Navgachiya SP is closely monitoring the case and has arrested the accused person. Investigations are ongoing on various aspects, and a review of the handling of the situation is being conducted. A report has been requested from the SP regarding the firing incident, and he is actively investigating the case at his level.
