Discovery of Rare Statue through Excavation at Talab

In a village in Jamui district, a rare statue of Lord Surya dating back to the 8th century was discovered during excavation at a local pond. This discovery has led to the initiation of the construction of a temple dedicated to Lord Bhaskar, starting with a groundbreaking ceremony today. The villagers have made elaborate preparations for the event, including the distribution of 2100 kilograms of laddoos as prasad and a 24-hour Ramdhuni program following the ceremony.

Resistance against Government Official’s Decision

Prior to the groundbreaking ceremony, a government official, believed to be a Panchayat Secretary, had expressed reluctance to conduct the ceremony in the village. However, the villagers opposed this decision, recalling the discovery of the rare statue of Lord Surya in the area just weeks before. Despite initial attempts by the district administration to relocate the statue to a museum, the villagers stood firm and insisted on establishing a temple for its worship.

Formation of Trust for Construction of Surya Temple

Following the discovery of the rare statue, a trust named Shri Surya Dev Mandir Janakalyan Trust has been established to oversee the construction of the temple dedicated to Lord Bhaskar. The villagers are now preparing to lay the foundation of the temple and are expecting a large turnout of devotees to participate in the worship of the deity. The community’s dedication to honoring the ancient statue has led to the formation of the trust and the commencement of the temple construction process.
