Bhagalpur: A Haven for Rare Birds

Bhagalpur is slowly becoming a haven for rare birds in the environmental sector. Various rare species of birds can now be spotted in the region, including a beautiful bird known as the Spoonbill. This bird, also known as Chammach Baj, resembles a heron in shape but is named after its spoon-like beak. It is often seen near rivers, lakes, and ponds, and was recently spotted in Bihapur, Bhagalpur.

Unique Features of the Spoonbill

The Spoonbill is known for its distinctive spoon-shaped beak, which is approximately 1 foot long and adds to its beauty. This bird averages around 2 to 2.5 feet in size and can be found near the banks of the Ganges, rivers, lakes, and ponds in the region. Bird enthusiasts have identified it as a Eurasian bird that migrates to Asia and Europe.

Spoonbills Spotted in Ghatoura Lake

Ghatoura Lake in Bihapur, Bhagalpur, has become a new spot for birdwatchers as the Spoonbill has been sighted there. This lake is located in Gauripur Diara, Navgachhiya, and has attracted thousands of miles of migration for these birds. While initially, a group of 10 Spoonbills was spotted, now only one can be seen in the area as they tend to move to different locations.



भागलपुर अब दुर्लभ पक्षियों का बसेरा बन रहा है और यहां पर चम्मच बाज जैसी खूबसूरत पक्षी देखने को मिल रही है। इस पक्षी की चोंच चम्मच के आकार की होती है और इसे नदी, झील, तालाब के किनारे आमतौर पर देखा जाता है। यह यूरेशिया की पक्षी है और इसका बसेरा भागलपुर के बिहपुर में है। भागलपुर के नये लेक घटोरा लेक में भी इस पक्षी को देखने का मौका मिला है।
