The temperature is soaring in many parts of the country, with areas like Odisha, Jharkhand, Uttar Pradesh, and Maharashtra experiencing temperatures exceeding 40 degrees. There is a possibility of a heat wave in 15 states from May 5 to 12, coinciding with the upcoming elections in these regions.

Dr. Soma Senroy, a senior scientist at the Indian Meteorological Department, has warned that the heat wave could affect the Lok Sabha elections. Large rallies during the election campaigns could increase the risk of heat-related illnesses among the public.

Dr. Soma Senroy highlighted the strong winds in northeastern India, which could exacerbate the heat wave conditions. If the heat intensifies in North-West India, the department will issue an alert to warn the public about the potential risks.
Gradual Relief from Heat
While many parts of the country are currently facing extreme heat, Dr. Soma Senroy mentioned that the intensity of the heat will gradually decrease. Red alerts have been issued for some regions, but there is hope for relief from the scorching temperatures in the coming days.
