Sitamarhi Police in Bihar has achieved a major success in cracking down on fake currency. The police conducted raids in the Nanpur and Pupri police station areas and seized a large quantity of fake currency notes. In addition, three individuals involved in the illegal business were also arrested. The raid resulted in the recovery of around 18 lakh Indian counterfeit notes and 8.62 lakh Nepali counterfeit notes.
According to SDPO Atanu Datta of Pupri, the police operation was based on confidential information. The three arrested individuals are believed to be connected to a network involved in circulating fake currency in the border areas. The seizure also included a printer used for printing the counterfeit notes. The border districts between India and Nepal have seen significant activity by such criminal organizations.
The police are currently interrogating the arrested individuals to gather more information about their network. They are trying to determine the extent of their connections. The arrested individuals, Avneet Kumar and Vikas Kumar, are residents of Nanpur in Sitamarhi, while Sushil Mahato is from Avapur in the Pupri police station area. The police have commended the operation and suspect that Sitamarhi district, located on the India-Nepal border, has been targeted by this group for a long time.
