Supreme Court’s Ruling on Hindu Marriage
In a landmark ruling by the Supreme Court of India, it was clarified that Hindu marriages are not considered valid without the seven vows. Renowned astrologer Dr. Rajnath Jha from Patna explained that in Hinduism, marriage is considered a sacred ritual known as ‘Panigrahan Sanskar’. It symbolizes the union of the bride and groom, with the consent of all parties involved. Hindu marriages focus more on spiritual connections rather than just physical relationships, making it a revered tradition.
The Importance of Rituals in Marriage
The Supreme Court expressed disapproval of the registration of Indian marriages without proper ceremonial rituals, highlighting the significance of marriage as an institution in Indian society. The court emphasized the need for solemnizing marriages according to the Hindu Marriage Act and showcasing evidence of the ceremony in case of disputes. Without these rituals, marriages cannot be deemed valid under Hindu law.
