Former IPS Officer T. Prabhakar Rao Implicated in Phone Tapping Case
The Telangana Phone Tapping Case has taken a dramatic turn with former IPS officer T. Prabhakar Rao being named as the prime accused. Rao, who was the Chief of the state’s Intelligence Bureau, is accused of illegally tapping the phones of several state leaders during the previous government led by Chandrashekhar Rao. It is alleged that Rao collected a large amount of electronic data by tapping opposition leaders’ phones without authorization.
Raid Conducted at Prabhakar Rao’s Residence and Other Locations
A raid was conducted at the residence of Hyderabad-based Prabhakar Rao, who also owns a TV channel. Additionally, searches were carried out at several other locations, including the house of Shravan Rao, another individual accused in the case. Shravan Rao is said to be absconding, with allegations that he imported equipment from Israel for phone tapping operations.
Several Police Officers Implicated in the Phone Tapping Scandal
Aside from T. Prabhakar Rao, another police officer named Radha Krishna Rao has also been accused in the case. Multiple police officers in Telangana are under investigation for their involvement in phone tapping activities. The scandal has widened to include monitoring devices on devices of prominent figures, including the Chief Minister and members of political parties, actors, and businessmen, with allegations of blackmail and tapping of over a lakh phone calls.
