NDAs Hopes in Seemanchal

In Seemanchal, the NDA is banking on the Modi wave. The India Alliance is confident in the caste equation. Independent candidate Pappu Yadav may cause an upset in Purnia. The second phase of the Bihar Lok Sabha elections will see voting in Purnia, Katihar, Kishanganj, Bhagalpur, and Banka. Out of these, three seats belong to Seemanchal and two to Anga region. The competition is tough on all seats, but the battle on the three Seemanchal seats is particularly interesting.

Triangular Contest in Kishanganj

In Kishanganj, a triangular contest is underway. The AIMIM party’s state president, Akhtarul Iman, holds significant influence in the region. The politics in Seemanchal is crucial in this seat. The seat has a considerable Muslim population, and the contest is intense between the NDA, Congress, and INDI alliance. The sitting Congress MP, M.Javed, faces a tough challenge to retain the traditional Congress seat. Rahul Gandhi has actively campaigned in Kishanganj to strengthen the Congress’s position.

Mujahid in Katihar

In Katihar, the NDA’s Master Mujahid is pitted against JD(U)’s Dulalchand. The JD(U) hopes to benefit from a division of Muslim votes between AIMIM and Congress candidates. With around 41% Muslim population, Katihar is considered a Muslim-majority area. The JD(U) candidate is banking on consolidating Hindu votes in the region. The final outcome will depend on how the Hindu-Muslim politics play out in Katihar, as seen in the previous elections where the JD(U) candidate emerged victorious.
