Scientific Traffic Survey in Five Major Cities of Bihar
The traffic system in the five major cities of Bihar ★Patna, Gaya, Muzaffarpur, Bhagalpur, and Biharsharif ★will be systematically surveyed using scientific methods. A memorandum of understanding (MoU) has been signed between ADG (Traffic) Sudhanshu Kumar and Dr. Rohit Baluja, Director of the Institute of Road Traffic Education in Faridabad, at the Police Headquarters. Bihar will become the first state to conduct a traffic audit under this agreement, with a team from the institute conducting an extensive study in each of the five cities at different times and situations, and submitting a report to the police within the next 4-5 months. The report will cover traffic management on all roads, including national and state highways, within these cities and their surroundings, spanning a distance of 500 kilometers.
Audit to Improve Traffic Management and Control
The aim of the audit is to find scientific and effective solutions to the increasing traffic pressure in the cities. This sustainable solution will prove beneficial for several years to come. Bihar has a higher number of two-wheeler vehicles than the national average, with 83% compared to the national average of 73%. A special plan will be prepared to control this situation. Bihar ranks second in terms of the number of fatal accidents per 100 road accidents in the country. Scientific solutions will be implemented to tackle these challenges.
Involvement of Various Departments in Traffic Management
All departments related to traffic management will be involved in this initiative. Engineers, cameramen, videographers, and forensic researchers will collect data, images, and videos related to traffic in these cities. The analysis of this data will be conducted in separate labs in Delhi. Recommendations will be provided to improve the current traffic situation based on various standards. Lack of traffic engineering is a common complaint in most cities. The participation of all departments involved in traffic management is essential for effective traffic control.
Improving Traffic Situation through Scientific Recommendations
The audit will provide scientific recommendations to improve the traffic situation in these cities. It will help in creating a sustainable traffic management system. Bihar will become the first state to conduct such a scientific audit. The involvement of various departments and the application of scientific solutions will help in effectively managing and controlling traffic in these cities.
