Violence Erupts at IGIMS Patna
There was chaos at the IGIMS hospital in Patna as a patient’s family members allegedly resorted to violence against doctors. The incident escalated to the point where the patient’s relative was arrested for brandishing a pistol in the hospital premises.
Details of the Incident
According to reports, the female patient’s grandchildren and son were involved in the altercation, which also included junior doctors. The police arrived at the scene and detained the patient’s family members. An FIR is being filed by the security supervisor at IGIMS against the accused for threatening the doctors with a pistol.
Prompt Police Action
The hospital superintendent revealed that the patient, Kusumlata Devi, was admitted to the ventilator on bed number 17. Her treatment was ongoing for kidney, lung, and heart failure. The situation escalated when the family members accused the hospital staff of negligence in the patient’s treatment, leading to a physical altercation and verbal abuse. The police have taken swift action by arresting the individual who brandished a pistol and are investigating the matter further.
