Violence erupted during the idol immersion procession in Darbhanga, Bihar. Near the Beheda Bazaar area of the Benipur police station, clashes broke out between two groups after stones were suddenly thrown by anti-social elements, injuring around a dozen people. The incident occurred during the procession of the Saraswati idol from Beheda Bazaar to a smaller market. Some anti-social elements threw stones from the roof of a religious place, resulting in multiple injuries. The situation became chaotic, and the police authorities, including the SDPO, DSP, and various station heads, arrived at the scene to control the situation and calm the people down.
Police officials and other officers were present in Beheda Bazaar along with the riot control unit until the news was written. Efforts were being made to take the idol of Saraswati to the designated pond for immersion under police protection. According to local residents, the procession was moving towards the pond along the designated route. However, someone threw stones at the procession from a rooftop, causing injuries to several individuals, including women. The injured were taken to the Beheda PHC for treatment. Following the incident, the Beheda Bazaar police outpost was converted into a police camp.
