Bihar Lok Sabha Elections 2024

Voting has begun for the first phase of the Lok Sabha elections in Bihar, covering four constituencies ★Gaya, Aurangabad, Nawada, and Jamui ★which are known for their Naxal influence. Extensive security arrangements have been made in these areas. The first phase includes 38 candidates, including current MP Sushil Kumar, former Chief Minister Jitan Ram Manjhi, Arun Bharati (sister-in-law of Chirag Paswan), BJP leader Vivek Thakur, and Abhay Singh Kushwaha who recently switched from JDU to RJD.

Security Measures and Polling Details

The Election Commission has designated more than 5,000 polling booths as sensitive for the first phase of elections, deploying 153 companies of paramilitary forces for security. Polling in Naxal-affected regions will take place from 7:00 am to 4:00 pm, with voting continuing for those in line before 4:00 pm. In other areas, polling will be conducted until 6:00 pm.

Focused on Gaya Constituency

Gaya district is under scrutiny due to former Chief Minister Jitan Ram Manjhi contesting as the NDA candidate. Three assembly constituencies in Gaya have a total of 995 sensitive polling booths. Polling in these sensitive centers will take place until 4:00 pm. Gaya town, Belaganj, and Wazirganj will have polling from 7:00 am to 6:00 pm in the remaining constituencies of the Gaya Lok Sabha seat.
