Delhi and NCR Facing Harsh Weather Conditions
The capital city, Delhi, and its surrounding areas are experiencing extreme heat. The temperature is rapidly rising, but mornings and evenings will be slightly cooler with light clouds. Meanwhile, temperatures are dropping rapidly in the mountains, with snowfall reported in Kashmir and temperatures dipping to minus 14 in Himachal Pradesh.
Temperature Plummets in Himachal Pradesh
In Kukumseri, Himachal Pradesh, the temperature dropped to minus 14.6 degrees Celsius on Thursday. The weather department stated that most parts of Himachal Pradesh are experiencing severe cold, with some areas seeing a decrease in minimum temperatures following snowfall and rain. Kukumseri in Lahaul and Spiti recorded the lowest temperature in the state, with temperatures falling as low as minus 14.6 degrees Celsius.

In Sumdo, temperatures dropped to 8.3 degrees below zero, while Kalpa recorded 5.6 degrees below zero. Narkanda saw temperatures 2.5 degrees below zero, and Manali and Rekong Peo recorded temperatures below zero as well. Several roads have been closed due to heavy snowfall in Himachal Pradesh.
Weather Forecast for the Region
The local weather office has predicted rain and snowfall in the higher mountains from February 24 to 28, and intermittent rain in the lower and middle mountains on February 26 and 27. The weather is deteriorating in Kashmir as well, with a Russian tourist dying in a dangerous snowstorm in Gulmarg on Thursday. Several tourists were rescued alive after a rescue operation. The minimum temperature in New Delhi on Friday is expected to be 9 degrees Celsius, with a maximum of 27 degrees Celsius, with clear skies. The possibility of temperatures dropping to 14 degrees Celsius by the end of February in Delhi is high, although cloud cover is expected to continue.
